How Municipal Court Warrants Work
Searching for a city court warrant in Floyd County works best when you know where cases actually live. Floyd County lists no separate municipal court. Its courts of record are Floyd Circuit Court and Superior Courts 1, 2, and 3. A city police agency can still write a citation or make an arrest. That does not hand the agency the case. The court keeps the file and decides whether a warrant is recalled. Police records document an incident and what officers did. Court records show filings, hearings, a failure to appear, warrant events, bond, and disposition. So before calling, ask which record you actually need.
Floyd Has No Standalone Municipal Court
The official New Albany courts page lists the Floyd Circuit Court, three Superior Courts, and Veterans Court. No New Albany municipal court appears on it. Georgetown and Greenville town sources list none either. Floyd County simply has no city warrant clerk or city warrant portal, so a warrant question lands with the county courts.
Local rule: City or town origin does not change the county court that controls a Floyd County warrant record.
Floyds Knobs is a community, not its own city. Residents still use the same Floyd County court and Sheriff routes for warrants.
Municipal Courts Across Floyd County
No Floyd County municipal courts exist here. Superior Court 2 takes most traffic infractions and ordinance violations under Floyd's local rules, subject to specific exceptions.
| Place | Local police context | Court route | Record contact |
|---|---|---|---|
| New Albany | City Police | Floyd county courts, chiefly Superior 2 for traffic and ordinances | Clerk 812-948-5411 |
| Georgetown | Town Police | Floyd county courts | Clerk 812-948-5411 |
| Greenville | Sheriff and county routing | Floyd county courts | Clerk 812-948-5411 |
| Floyds Knobs | Unincorporated community | Floyd county courts | Clerk 812-948-5411 |
Superior Court 2 sits in Room 425 at 311 Hauss Square. Call 812-948-5488. A military-history, probation, problem-solving, or pending-case exception can still send a Floyd County traffic matter elsewhere.
Floyd City Citations Route to Superior 2
Under local assignment rules, traffic infractions, ordinance violations, motor-vehicle-code violations, traffic misdemeanors, and Level 6 traffic felonies land in Superior Court 2 in the ordinary course. That explains a quirk. A New Albany or Georgetown citation can carry a city police agency name. Its case still uses Floyd County court code 22D02.
- Issuing agency
- The police department or officer that wrote the citation.
- Venue
- The court where the case is heard.
- FTA
- Failure to appear for a required court date.
- Recall
- The court's withdrawal of a warrant.
A citation and a warrant are different documents. If an appearance is missed, the Floyd County court decides whether to issue a warrant and what happens next.
Floyd County Municipal Warrant Checks
Begin a Floyd County warrant check with MyCase. It searches public case records by case number, citation number, party, or attorney. Filters for court and status help narrow results. The service runs a CAPTCHA and bars bulk data mining, and it is a docket tool, not a live city warrant roster.
- Gather the citation, case number, exact cited name, and date of birth.
- Search MyCase and traffic ePay if the matter is a ticket.
- Note the court code and every recent warrant or hearing entry.
- Call the Floyd County Clerk at 812-948-5411 for the official record.
- Ask the assigned court what filing, appearance, bond, or payment is required.
The Clerk sits in Room 235 at 311 Hauss Square. Hours run Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. For Floyd County Sheriff-held records, call 812-542-1790. Neither office promises a public municipal warrant roster.
New Albany Police and Court Records
New Albany Police lists records at 812-948-5304, communications at 812-944-6411, and Criminal Investigations at 812-948-5317. Those numbers cover police work. They do not answer Floyd County warrant status. For that, use MyCase, the county Clerk, or the issuing court.
| Question | Best first route |
|---|---|
| Police incident or agency record | New Albany Police records |
| Case events and warrant status | Floyd County Clerk or assigned court |
| Traffic payment eligibility | Indiana ePay, then Clerk |
| Custody or after-hours bond | Floyd County jail |
Call the Floyd County Clerk first. It can spare a wasted trip to a city police station when the question is really about a court order.
Municipal Warrants: What They Show
A Floyd County case record can show the police agency, citation, alleged offense or ordinance, court, hearing date, FTA event, warrant status, bond, payment, and disposition. Not every field is public. Some fields may be missing altogether.
| Agency | The city, town, county, or state officer that began the matter. |
|---|---|
| Citation | The UTT or ordinance ticket used to locate the case. |
| Court | The Floyd court that controls the record. |
| FTA | A missed required appearance. |
| Warrant status | Issue, service, return, or recall entries that need current confirmation. |
| Disposition | The later court outcome or order. |
A blank Floyd County portal result has many causes: spelling, timing, access limits, or a wrong court filter. It is not proof that no warrant exists.
Georgetown Has Contact, Not a Portal
Georgetown Police lists 812-951-2508 plus an official mail or drop-off route. That page offers no searchable warrant database. The Georgetown municipal government source gives the town context for Floyd County residents.

The Floyd County page lists New Albany, Georgetown, Greenville, and Floyds Knobs. That is town-government routing only. Warrant records stay with the Floyd County courts.

That community list must not be read as a list of separate courts.
Floyd City Court Rules Change
Local rules change. Assignment orders change too. The Indiana Judicial Branch posts approval records and current local rules. A dated order proves when a change was approved; it does not replace the rule text. The Indiana local-rule orders source shows Floyd County approvals dated in 2025 and 2026.

Verify the current assignment with the Floyd County Clerk. That matters most with an older case, a prior court code, or a special docket.
Clearing a Municipal Court Warrant
With no separate municipal court, clearing a warrant starts in the Floyd County court named on the case. Ask what the court requires. That could be an appearance, a written motion, an attorney filing, payment, surrender, or bond. Never assume payment alone recalls the warrant.
- Confirm the court and current warrant entry.
- Ask what hearing or filing is required.
- Consult counsel when the matter is criminal, contested, or tied to probation.
- Verify bond and reporting instructions before travel.
- Keep proof and recheck the official docket.
Caution: A city police contact cannot promise that a Floyd County court warrant has been recalled or resolved.
For a traffic FTA, check BMV clearance too. Do this after the Floyd County court acts. The court sends a qualifying clearance notice to the BMV.
Floyd Municipal Warrant Bond Routes
A missed court date in Floyd County belongs to the court, not the police blotter. Miss the date and a bench warrant can follow. Floyd Superior Court 1 wants any continuance request in writing before the hearing, with copies to all parties, a stated reason, and current contact details. That procedure is not a recall form for every failure to appear. After a date has passed, ask the issuing court what motion or hearing it takes. Floyd County has no municipal court, so there is no municipal-warrant form to file. Bond works along narrow lines. During Clerk hours, follow the Room 235 instructions. After hours, on weekends, and on holidays, the jail front lobby handles its listed route. Court cash means ten percent of total bond, full cash covers the whole amount, and surety goes through an approved company. The jail demands exact cash and valid ID. Posting bond does not recall every order, drop a charge, or fix a BMV issue; the court's later docket decides that.
